Controversies and Bollywood go hand in hand. Every day, we hear of some new controversy which continues to be the talk of the town until another one crops up! Well, we aren’t complaining because Bollywood without controversies would have been boring, no doubt. Take a look at some of Bollywood’s much talked about controversies -
Jaan – Aamir’s love child
While SRK and Salman were busy making controversies, Aamir was bowling everyone over by his movies. We would have termed him as the most uncontroversial actor if it weren’t for the Jessica Hines case. In case you forgot, British journalist Jessica Hines claimed that the actor was the father of her son, Jaan.
Reportedly, Aamir met Jessica while shooting for Ghulam. The two were in a live in until Jessica got pregnant and Aamir asked her to abort the child or give up on their relationship. Jessica did the latter and stayed in London with her son.
We still don’t know the truth of this story. It has and will always remain one of Bollywood’s biggest mysteries!
Abhishek and Karisma’s break up
The couple got close to each other during Abhishek’s sister, Shweta’s wedding. Everything was hunky dory and Big B had even announced their engagement in his birthday party in 2002 until the next year when news of the engagement being called off started doing the rounds.
Numerous reasons for their break up emerged. While some said Babita didn’t think Abhishek was worthy of her daughter, some pointed fingers at Jaya Bachchan’s dominating nature and others said Karisma did not like being asked to quit acting after marriage. There were even rumours of Amar Singh being the cause of the break up.
Though we still don’t know the real reason, one thing was confirmed that this huge decision was taken by the families and the couple did not have much of a say in it.
Big B & Rekha’s real life ‘Silsila’
The two often made headlines. The biggest was when Rekha attended Rishi and Neetu Kapoor’s wedding wearing sindoor and mangalsutra! News of them being married started doing the rounds. After this, it was said that Jaya Bachchan told Rekha that she would never leave her husband come what may and thus with Silsila, their love story came to an end both on and off screen! Since then, both the parties have always ignored each other.
Till today in award shows whenever Amitabh Bachchan is on stage, the first person the cameras point to is Rekha and vice versa!
Divya Bharti case
It has been 20 years since this actress died and we still don’t know what was the reason behind it. Bubbly Divya Bharti began her career at the age of 15 but as fate would have it, she passed away at the age of 19 mysteriously.
Divya who was married to Sajid Nadiadwala then, was alleged to commit suicide by jumping out of the window. She was found to be drunk during that time. However, no concrete evidence was found. Growing insecurity about her career coupled with stressing over Sajid’s connections with the underworld and a difficult time at home, the actress was said to be going through a rough patch. She might have had a short acting career but is fondly remembered, even today.
Salman & Aishwarya’s love gone sour
Macho actor meets gorgeous actress on the movie sets, they fall in love and four years later their affair comes to an end. Not just any end, a very dramatic end! The couple broke up after Salman admitted to being unfaithful. However, it did not end there. The possessive actor could not stand denial and reportedly harassed Aishwarya. From hurling abuses at her to breaking furniture – Salman had done it all.
Then entered the self proclaimed ‘hero’ of the story – Vivek Oberoi who did his best to save his lady love, Aishwarya. He held a press conference to reveal Salman’s doings and admitted to dating Aishwarya. However, they too broke up after a while and this story finally came to an end! Aishwarya found love in Abhishek Bachchan, Vivek hung around for a bit and got married and as far Salman is concerned, you never know what this one’s upto!
By the end of this story, all we can say is we are surprised no director has made a movie “inspired” by the famous Salman- Aishwarya love saga yet.
Still in hiding: Rani - Aditya
Are they married? Are they getting married? We will never know with this couple. First there are stories about Aditya Chopra gifting Rani an Audi, then we see Rani wearing an engagement ring and then Shatrugan Sinha makes work easier for us by referring to her as ‘Rani Chopra’ publicly!
The two have known each other for more than 10 years and there have been rumours of them dating ever since! We are tired of keeping up with this couple. Spill the beans and spare yourself the undue media attention - that’s our advice to the couple!
Don and Jungli Bili – what’s cooking?
In 22 years of marriage, this is the first time Shah Rukh has been linked with an actress. From news of visiting each other’s houses at 3 in the morning to their eyebrow raising tweet tales - how much ever we try to overlook all this, we are forced to think that something is indeed brewing between Shah Rukh and Priyanka Chopra. Is this another of SRK’s playful antics or is there more to it this time?
Sources say that Priyanka’s closeness to SRK has infuriated wife Gauri Khan and good friend Karan Johar who prefer to keep a distance from her.
The Khan cold war
The two actors got into a heated argument at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party back in 2008. It was said the SRK’s snide remark on Salman’s ex, Aishwarya Rai triggered the fight and thus began a cold war began between the two.
They went without speaking to each other for 5 years and then one fine day out of the blue, the unexpected happened - they hugged each other at an Iftaar party! Suddenly the major happenings in the world took a back seat and all that was spoken about was the “famous” hug between them. Even though both of them have been shying away from the topic since then, let’s hope the hug is the start of something new.
Whatever the case, after the hug we can almost imagine Rakhee saying “Main na kehti thi, mere Karan Arjun aayenge!”
