When the King Khan throws a party, it creates a splash, just like his movies. Shahrukh Khan and Gauri hosted an Eid dinner for all well-wishers of B-town on August 11. The who's who of Bollywood attended the grand bash and had a blast too. However, even this party was not sans hot gossip and hushed scandals.
The party was the celebration of many a good thing that happened in Shahrukh Khan's life recently. It combined the goodness of an Eid dinner with the excitement of the recently released Chennai Express, flavoured with the wonderful entry of a new bundle of joy in SRK's life.
From Dilip Kumar, the Bachchans and Roshans, to the newbies Aia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor & Aditya Kapoor; from the evergreen divas Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Tabu, Rani Mukherji, Karisma Kapoor & Sushmita to the newly bloomed Sonam Kapoor - everyone was there and beaming in the company of SRK.
SRK's supposed 'friend-turned-enemy' Karan Johar was also in attendance, showing no signs of any enemity. Like a member of the Khan family, Karan stayed till the wee hours of the morning, playing host to the esteemed guests.
Music directors Vishal Shekar were present and so was pop singer Honey Singh, who sang the 'Lungi' number for SRK in Chennai Express. Though the music directors, and the pop star exchanged some words of war on Twitter, they remained civil to each other, say onlookers.
Apparently, the Bachchans got lucky as they got to peek into little AbRam's wonderful nursery. Big B tweeted about this saying, "Back after spending a lovely warm evening at Shahrukh's house .. a party for Eid , his little new born, who looks adorable."
Shahrukh Khan's dimpled co-star Deepika Padukone was very much missed at the bash. Apparently, she was busy shooting for an Ad film in Milan.
After the recently revived friendship between Salman and Shahrukh, all eyes were on the Being Human star, to see if he will accept the invitation. For whatever reason - he did not. However, he did send representatives to indicate that all is well. Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan attended the big bash and also had a blast. Malaika, shook a leg with her 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' co-star and host of the evening Shahrukh Khan.
Arjun Rampal, who was once a close bud and in SRK's 'camp' fell out with the SRK after some differences. Though there were rumours of the two getting back together, it seems like this has not yet happened. While Arjun was missing, wifey Mehr Jessia did make it to the bash. SRK's business partner Jay Mehta too attended the party sans wife Juhi.
SRK's once-upon-a-time best bud and the girl with who he shared the most amazing chemistry on-screen - Kajol - was missing from the bash too. Though Kajol and hubby Ajay Devgn were very much on the guest list, they decided to skip it.
Though there was news of Priyanka Chopra being invited for the bash, she was also amiss, as she is currently in LA. However, one can't help wondering if she would have attended the bash, even if she were in town? Owing to the alleged misunderstandings with Gauri and the alleged romance with the high profile host of the evening, SRK, this barely seems possible.
The new age superstar Ranbir Kapoor was also amiss as he had to return to Srilanka to resume shoot for 'Bombay Velvet'. Talking of misses, so were Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran. Work commitments perhaps kept them away.
Katrina was reportedly busy at one of her family commitments. One of her sisters will soon be tying the knot in London and Katrina apparently threw a party for her on the very same day as SRK's Eid Bash.
Well, for some reason the 'misses' in the party were noticed more than the 'hits' this time. Guess when Shahrukh thows a party, it becomes less of a bash and more of a social statement. Perhaps all of Bollywood's relationships can be figured out from this one bash!
One of the hightlights of the evening was Shahrukh Khan feeding Dilip Kumar with his hands. Isn't SRK done with creating magical moments in Bollywood already? SRK also personally drove Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu back to their home.
Shahrukh Khan shook a leg with lovely ladies Madhuri Dixit, Sushmita Sen and Malaika Arora Khan. The charmer that he is, SRK complimented all the lovely ladies at the bash. No wonder they left looking 'pinker' than usual.
