Deepika Padukone is proud of her Indian accent in upcoming Hollywood debut ‘xXx: Return Of Xander Cage‘. The beauty who is depicting the role of Serena in the film has delivered her dialogues in Indian accent. The reason behind her doing so is that she wants Indian accent to make a global impact.
Deepika Padukone says, “And why not? For years, we have accepted the British and Australian accent, for example. So its high time we accept an Indian accent. I play an Indian girl in the film, and for me it’s a matter of great pride that I get to be myself. That is one of the aspects that drew me to the script and attracted me to do this film, the fact that for once, I was allowed to be myself is fantastic. I was allowed to flaunt that I am Indian.”

She further added that ” Accents will happen on project-to-project basis or role-to-role basis. Of course such things (accents) matter, but this one particular film and role gave me an opportunity to be proud of who i am and where i come from. Why wont I make most of it?”
We wonder if all this is a sly dig at Priyanka Chopra whose accent ever since she started work on Quantico has been the talk of the town. Or Kangana Ranaut who had recently taken a jibe at Deepika and Priyanka and said that she doesn’t need to fake her accents like many others do when they go to the West.
Whatever the reason we are proud of this ‘Mastani’ for flaunting her Indian accent in the world of International entertainment.
